Urban Adaptation at the 20th German Facade Day (Deutscher Fassadentag)

The Urban Adaptation Network was represented with a technical presentation at the 20th German Facade Day in Stuttgart, organized by the FVHF in cooperation with the ILEK at the University of Stuttgart.

Dr. Mirko Hänel, coordinator of the network, presented innovative approaches for climate-active building envelopes in his lecture “New Generation of Functional Facades – Rainwater Storage and Evaporation.” He showed how innovative facade systems actively contribute to cooling urban spaces through rainwater storage and controlled evaporation, thus opening up new avenues for climate-resilient urban development.

🌦️ Effective rainwater management
🌿 Passive cooling and heat reduction
🏗️ Transferable to new and existing buildings

The technology presented illustrates the goal of the Urban Adaptation network:
➡️ To make cities more resilient and livable – through innovative, integrative, and nature-based solutions.
